In short
DAIGON is built to use as little personal information as possible. For students we use a first name and the initial of a family name, an age group, the school and, for competitions, an in-game name and results. We never sell personal information, never use it for advertising, and never contact students directly.
Who we are and our role
DAIGON provides esports clubs, competitions and curriculum lessons to schools. Schools in the European Union contract with DAIGON EU Ltd (Malta); all other schools contract with Daigon Esports Ltd (England and Wales, company number 14554797).
- Student information: the school is the data controller and decides what is used and why. DAIGON is the data processor and uses it only on the school’s instructions.
- School staff, contacts and website visitors: DAIGON is the data controller.
Students
We use only:
- first name and the initial of the family name, or a label such as “Student 1” if the school prefers;
- age group or year level, so games are age-appropriate;
- the school the student attends;
- for competitions only, an in-game name and competition results.
We do not ask for dates of birth, home addresses, parent contact details, photographs, biometric, health or other sensitive information, or financial information. Game accounts we provide are school accounts, not linked to a named student.
We use this information to run the activities the school has chosen: sessions, competitions, fair-play leaderboards and certificates. No automated decisions are made about students and they are not profiled. The school is responsible for the legal basis and, where a student is under the age of digital consent, for obtaining parental consent before sharing anything with us.
School staff, contacts and website visitors
For teachers and school contacts we use a name, work email, school and role, to provide the service, manage the account and invoice the school. Our lawful bases are the contract with the school and our legitimate interests. We send occasional product news to school contacts, and anyone can opt out at any time.
When you fill in a form on this website we use what you enter only to answer you. This website sets no analytics or advertising cookies; see the Cookies page.
Who else handles the information
A small number of service providers help us run the platform, such as hosting, email delivery and support tools. Each is bound by a data-processing contract and may use the information only to provide its service. Providers that handle student information are listed in the Sub-processor Register.
Student information is stored in the European Union (Germany). Where a provider is outside the UK or EU, we use Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK transfer addendum.
How long we keep it
- Student information: while the school’s subscription is active, then deleted or anonymised within 6 months.
- Competition results: 5 years, then anonymised.
- School contact information: the length of the contract plus 3 years.
- Payment records: 6 years, as UK law requires.
A school can ask us to delete its students’ information at any time; we do so within 60 days.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and staff see only what their role needs. The platform is closed to the public. If a breach affects a school’s data, we tell the school promptly and notify the regulator where the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to its use, or to receive a copy. Parents and students should contact the school first, because the school is the controller of student information; if you write to us, we pass the request to the school. For anything else, email legal@daigonesports.com. We reply within one month.
You can also complain to a data protection authority: the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK, the Information and Data Protection Commissioner in Malta, or the authority where you live.
Schools in the United States, Saudi Arabia and the UAE: see the Data Processing Agreement for the terms that apply to you.
