CTRL + ALT + E-PLAY: DAIGON Esports partners with TAISI to launch India's first national school-led esports championship
DAIGON, TAISI and KRAYON are launching the Alpha Esports League, India's first national school-led esports championship and a direct qualifier for the School Esports World Championships in Malta.
At DAIGON Esports we have one mission: to reframe gaming from “screen time” to purposeful screen use. That is why, at the TAISI Conference 2025, we announced a landmark partnership with TAISI, The Association of International Schools of India.
Together with KRAYON, we are launching the Alpha Esports League: India’s first national, school-led esports championship. It is not just about competition. It takes something students already love and uses it to build 21st-century skills and open global opportunities.
At a glance
- Who — DAIGON Esports, TAISI and KRAYON.
- What — the Alpha Esports League, India’s first national school-led esports championship.
- Games — Minecraft Capture the Flag and Rocket League.
- The prize — a direct qualifying route to the School Esports World Championships in Malta.
The India opportunity
India, with its vibrant education landscape, represents the future of digital engagement. And students everywhere are already gaming: the average child starts at age 7, and by middle school 90% play regularly.
The question for school leaders is how to bring structure to that passion. The Alpha Esports League answers it with an official, supervised platform that turns a casual hobby into a routine activity that builds discipline, self-assessment and a competitive mindset.

The skills pipeline
The most immediate benefit of structured school esports is a set of competencies that reach well beyond the game.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving — teams in Rocket League and Minecraft have to strategise and make quick decisions under pressure.
- Teamwork and communication — success depends on clear, real-time collaboration, the same skills any modern workplace needs.
- Leadership and resilience — students learn to lead their peers, take constructive criticism and persevere after a loss.
- Career readiness — the games industry is worth over $300 billion a year, with careers in game design, production, programming and marketing.
The ultimate prize: the world stage
The Alpha Esports League rewards the winners of each game and section, and doubles as a national qualifier for the School Esports World Championships (SEWC). Organised by DAIGON Esports with partners including COBIS, ECIS, ISA and BSME, the World Championships are held in Malta, in the same titles as the Alpha League.
Sending a team to Malta gives students:
- Global competition — the thrill of playing against schools from around the world, and the cultural exchange that comes with it.
- Visibility — exposure that can lead to college scholarships and careers in a fast-growing industry.
This is the pinnacle of school-based esports, and the Alpha Esports League is the roadmap for your students to get there.
